PPx (photopneumatic treatment) hair
removal therapy is an FDA approved therapy and is the first painless
treatment for permanent hair reduction. Treatments offer superior
results when compared with other laser and light based technologies.
Treatments are gentle and painless. The duration of individual
treatment sessions are much shorter than with other lasers. Upper lip
hair removal may take up to 1 minute, treating underarms might take up
to 3 minutes, while treating larger areas such as the back or legs could
take up to 20 minutes. PPx does not require pre-treatment with
anesthetics or numbing creams.
There are 3 stages of hair growth, the
active, resting and transient phase. PPx targets the melanin in the
hair during the active or growth phase. Each stage of hair growth can
last from 6-14 weeks and it is impossible to determine which hairs are
in which phase at any give time, therefore a minimum of 6 treatments,
6-14 weeks apart are needed to achieve maximum hair reduction.
USES- The PPx is used to quickly remove
unwanted hair on all parts of the body. The most effective results are
seen on light to medium skinned individuals with dark hair.
SAFETY- PPx therapy is up to 4 times
safer than other hair removal technology. The treatment tips are
disposable thus reducing the chance of cross contamination and
infection. Also, because the treatment area is gently drawn up into the
treatment tip, only the targeted area is being treated and unwanted
damage to surrounding skin is eliminated.
TREATMENT PROCEDURE- PPx hair removal is
very comfortable compared with other types of hair removal. You will
feel your skin being gently drawn into the treatment tip. A light
energy will be applied to the treatment area, immediately after which
you will feel your skin being released back into normal position. It is
a fast, no down-time procedure. You can resume normal activities or go
back to work immediately. The treatment area does need to be clean
shaven before you come in for the procedure. After the procedure a
clear aloe-vera gel and sunscreen will be applied.
POST TREATMENT- There may be some
temporary redness and the treated area may feel like it has a light
sunburn for a few minutes to a few hours. It is highly recommended that
sunscreen be used and you keep treated areas away from sun exposure for
several days after the treatment.
RESULTS- PPx is safe, and patients have
been extremely happy with their results. According to a recent clinical
study, 100% of patients surveyed noted that they would chose PPx over
previously experienced laser and light based treatments for hair
removal.
